Sorry for not doing my blog thing at the weekend. I was rather pre-occupied with a tournament of sword fighting. For realsies. In my spare time, I am a member of a HEMA school that teaches 16th century style rapier fencing. Here is a video of some other people doing some. That was actually a demonstration by my coaches.
But anyway, back to the important matter, I had a tournament of this all weekend. It was my first ever tournament and it did not go so well. I lost all 3 of my fights in the group stage and placed 11th out of 12 fighters. In my defense though, I did have last years defending champion as my opponent for my first ever tournament bout, a bout I lost 5-1. I also lost 5-2 and 11-2, rounding out my exit from the tournament. Despite my complete and total defeat, I did enjoy the tournament and I am already in training for next year when I will undoubtedly win, of course.
